In a beautifully restored colonial chapel atop Dempsey Hill, Claudine Restaurant offers a charming retreat amidst the bustling cityscape of Singapore, specializing in exceptional French cuisine. Upon entry, you're greeted by a chic red truck, and though we didn't get to see the truck café in action, the experience at Claudine was nothing short of exceptional. I had read about Claudine in Timeout’s list of must-try restaurants in Singapore and seen numerous positive reviews, so I was very excited to visit.
To start, we ordered the Claudine Sharing Board, which featured a delightful assortment of charcuterie including Jambon Persillé, a classic terrine made with ham and parsley; L'oreiller, a rich and flavorful pâté; savory Auvergne ham with a deep, robust flavor; and Saucisson Maison Duculty, a traditional French sausage that added a perfect savory note. Be warned: this is a heavy starter, and if you're like us and finish it all because it's too good, you might feel full before the main course.
We ordered the Kampot Pepper Steak Flambé for our main course, which was prepared tableside. We split it in half since my husband prefers medium-rare, while I usually go for medium doneness (I know, it's not ideal—I always get booed by my husband whenever I do this. Lol.). However, after trying both, I ended up enjoying the medium-rare more. The steak was incredibly tender, and the highlight of the dish was the bone marrow that immediately melted like thin air in my mouth and was divine.
To finish it off, we ordered Crêpe Sou-zette for dessert, and the restaurant added a nice anniversary note.
Claudine provided an excellent dining experience from start to finish. The food was delicious and reasonably priced, making it a must-visit restaurant in Singapore. For special occasions or simply an outstanding meal, Claudine ensures a gastronomic delight.
