Cinque Terre, the picturesque Italian Riviera destination, is a dream come true for many travelers. On this trip, my husband and I had just one day to explore this stunning region after his recovery from illness. Despite the time constraints, our day in Cinque Terre was nothing short of amazing and memorable.
Our day began in Manarola, the first of the three vibrant towns on our itinerary. We savored the charm of this cliffside village, with its colorful houses and the scent of freshly baked focaccia in the air. TJ's recovery meant we took it slow, enjoying coffee and pastries at a café with a perfect view of the harbor.
In Vernazza, we treated ourselves to delicious seafood pasta at a charming trattoria, fully immersing ourselves in the vibrant local atmosphere. TJ took a leisurely stroll along the waterfront to enjoy the sheer beauty of the town. Since it was summer, the beach was packed with people, and it felt quite crowded.
Our last stop for the day was Monterosso al Mare, the largest of the Cinque Terre towns. While Monterosso is known for its wide sandy beach and resort-like atmosphere, it still maintains the quaint charm that makes Cinque Terre special. We spent the late afternoon strolling along the beach promenade, dipping our toes in the Mediterranean Sea, and watching the sun set behind the hills.
The beach was a captivating sight, not just for its golden sands and crystal-clear waters but also for the colorful sea of beach umbrellas that adorned the shoreline.
